Disney Diary - Day 1

Going to Disneyland as a kid was always my dream... but going as a adult's pretty cool too! Me and my boyfriend Greg decided to go to Disneyland Paris for my 18th birthday last month, and it was incredible. I wasn't going to write anything about it, but we took so many photos it would be silly not to!

Our trip was from Thursday to Monday, and we were lucky enough to get the most out of our trip with an early Eurostar train on the Thursday and a late train back on the Monday, but our plans were slightly ruined by the snowy weather causing delays meaning we didn't reach the park till gone 2pm.

Luckily we decided to add on Disney Express which meant we could drop everything off and go straight into the parks without worrying about checking in or taking our bags to the hotel.

After picking up our tickets and dropping off our cases, we headed from the station into the entrance area of the parks. It was freezing, the ground was covered in slushy ice but it didn't take away any of the magic! The Disneyland Hotel looked gorgeous and the snow just added a extra magic touch.

We decided to head straight to look at the castle (obviously) and even in grey skies it looked stunning, I took about 1000 photos by the castle during our trip, praying for slightly sunnier skies each day! Being newbies to Disneyland Paris, we were in awe of everything, and took some time to explore and find our way around.

Heading over to the rides queue times board, we saw Indiana Jones had a short waiting time, so we put that on the top of our list. It took us a while to get our bearings and we eventually found it, and oh my god it was good but scary! I tried not to do much research on the rides, as I didn't want to ruin any surprises, but it was a lot faster and loopier (is that a word?) than I thought it would be!

As we'd been travelling for over 6 hours, we were starving! We didn't have any reservations this day, but we were too tired to sit in a busy restaurant for too long, so we decided to head to Earl of Sandwich. I'd highly recommend it for a cheap lunch or dinner, very quick and not too expensive in relative to the other restaurants in the Disney Village. I had tomato soup and potato wedges, and a cookie, and Greg had a Philly Cheese steak and a cookie for under €20.

As it was around 4pm, our luggage would be at the hotel so we decided to go check in and unpack. The walk back to the hotel was lovely, the lake was all frozen over and the trees were still sprinkled with snow. The scenery around our hotel was lovely, and made the cold walk more enjoyable!

We booked a Golden Forest Room at Sequoia Lodge which meant we were in the main building, but we also got a seperate check in area with seats and no queue to wait in. Our room was gorgeous, (the bed was hugeeee!) and it was decorated with Bambi touches. We had a fridge,  a kettle and a coffee machine which was definitely useful in the cold weather!

We also received a collector bottle of Coca - Cola with the castle on, a big glass bottle of water and a very cute surprise was left for me. Chocolate coins and a little personalised Happy Birthday note had been left, which was not expected by either of us!

After we unpacked we headed back into the park for around 5:30, and used our hotel fastpasses on the Buzz Lightyear ride, and explored a few of the shops down Main Street before waiting early by the castle to get a good spot for the fireworks.

The fireworks were incredible, even more magical than I could ever of imagined and I was too memorised to take any photos! The projections on the castle were beautiful, and the soundtrack I loved, (I wish you could buy it!) and the range of films included was awesome.

We then strolled back to the hotel, picked up a hot chocolate from the Golden Forest Lounge and headed to bed to get fully rested for our first full day!

I know this post was short, and not too exciting but I promise the next few days were filled with more adventures so keep your eye out for Day 2!
