Blogmas Day 14 - Christmas Game Ideas

It's Christmas Day evening. Your slumped on the sofa, stomach full of Christmas dinner, sweets and mince pies and you're surrounded by presents, family and most likely...more food and drink. The perfect time to crack out the games!

Whether it's board games, quizzes or little party games, it's perfect to carry on the entertainment in the evening and keep the laughter flowing..

My first pick is the Oven Mitt Unwrap game. I saw this going round on Facebook and the video was hilarious. All you need is a present wrapped in lots of layers of wrapping paper, two dice, a Santa hat and some oven gloves/mitts. Best played all stood round the table, the first player starts wearing a santa hat and oven gloves and tries to unwrap the present, while the player to there left rolls the 2 dice repeatedly until the get a double. They then have to put the hat and gloves on, while the person to there left rolls the dice. This carries on until someone has opened the present.

We love a good board game, especially round Christmas. Our favourites are:

• Linkee - Answer the 4 Questions and find the link between the answers quicker than the other teams.
• Colour Brain - Each team has a set of eleven colour cards, and a question is flipped over ie. 'What colours are the Olympic Rings' and the teams must answer the question using their colour cards.
• Logo - Answer the questions about iconic brands and products from TV shows to cereal brands and car manufactures.

For something a bit different, we played Beer Pong but with a twist. We used Christmassy drinks and spirits instead of just beer, such as

• Bailey's
• Prosecco
• Flavoured Gin
• Mulled Wine

Lastly, we love sitting round together and doing something quizzy. Using the website Kahoot, you can either create your own quiz or play someone else's. All you need is for each person/team to have a phone or tablet etc. to play on.

Or if you have a game console such as a Playstation 4, you can download games onto the console, and use the compatible app from your phone to play quiz games such a Knowledge is Power, or minigames such as Frantics

On Xbox, we love the Jackbox Games. There's so many to choose from! Our personal favourites our 'Trivia Murder Party' (a quiz game, not as bad as it sounds!) and 'Fakin It' (All players except the Faker receives the same question, and the Faker is just told to blend in as well as they can)

Hopefully this has given you some ideas for your Christmas parties, or just any evenings where you're stuck on what to do!

Love Becci xx
